Nansen Neuroscience Lecture 2026

Are you interested in why we age and get dementia? Some answers come from failing gene maintenance and brain energy production.

The Nansen Neuroscience Lecture 2026 is given by Vilhelm Bohr. He is a Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Health, USA, and an Affiliated Professor in Genome instability and neurodegeneration at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at The University of Copenhagen. He was elected a member of The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in 2020.

The Nansen Neuroscience Lectures (NNLs) are organized annually since 10.10. 2010 in conjunction with Fridtjof Nansen’s birthday to honour Nansen’s fundamental contribution to neuroscience. They are part of the Academy’s Nansen celebration.

The NNLs are given by speakers selected from the top tier of science research, and often later get prestigious prizes. Thus Karl Deisseroth, who gave an NNL in 2011, was awarded the Nobel Prize this year.

The lectures are organized by Linda H. Bergersen and Jon Storm-Mathisen on behalf of The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA) in cooperation with the University of Oslo (UiO), and The Nansen Neuroscience Network (NNN).
